2nd Annual SSHS R/C Day and Swap Meet at the Fairgrounds

Sunday, June 26, 2016 will be our 2nd Annual R/C Day and Swap Meet at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Ohio

Bring your radio-controlled car, truck, plane, quad, or helicopter to the fairgrounds from noon to 3 for a fun-filled day of interactive fun.

We plan on setting up a number of race courses for the R/C vehicles including an oval course, a road-race course, a rock crawling course, and a drag strip.

We will also have a limited number of demo vehicles from Traxxas that can be checked our for short demo runs.

If the weather permits, we hope to have some aircraft demonstrations including the Delta Ray from Hobbyzone and the Yuneec Q500 quadcopter.  The Delta Ray comes  equipped with Safe technology allowing even beginners to get off the ground and fly in only a matter of minutes.

The Yuneec is s high-end drone with high-def video and still photo capabilities, and can even return to home base and land itself!!

We will have our full staff there so you can get on the spot answers and instructions.

In The Box concessions and Weldon’s Ice Cream will be there serving hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, cold drinks and your favorite cold desserts.

New this year is the Swap Meet portion of the day. Due to limited space at the shop, we have decided to hold our swap meet at the fairgrounds in conjunction with the R/C Day. Bring your hobby related items for sale or trade. Bring your own tables, set up a blanket, or sell from your trunk.

It should prove to be an exciting day (if Mother Nature cooperates).

Stack Talk – Vol.4 Issue2

February has come and gone and it was quite the busy month for us. Murph and Noah attended the Blizzcon model show and had a great time there meeting folks and selling lots of our hard-to-find Wing Nuts kits.

Also in February, we redesigned our web site. It now has a cleaner look, includes better search and filtering options, is much faster, and is now mobile friendly. It should look and work much better on cell phones and tablets.

We have added a new feature to the web checkout option called In-Store Pickup. You can select your item, go to our secure checkout, and choose the In-Store Pickup option. This will allow you to make sure you get the item you want before it is sold in-store, and have it ready for you to pick up at your convenience, saving you shipping charges. Very useful if you are one of our local customers.

Next up on our schedule of events for March is the Buckeye Classic Model Show on Sunday, March 20th and the  F.O.R.K.S. Annual Model Show Saturday, March 26th.

The Buckeye Classic will be held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available here.

The F.O.R.K.S. show will be at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds in the AAA building from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This show is special because it’s in our hometown, the club members support our shop and we hope you will stop by the show and give them your support. More information is available here.

You will also want to mark your calendars for Sunday, June 26th. That is the date of the 2nd Annual SSHS RC Day at the Fairgrounds. Once again we will have the horse track available to us from Noon to 3 p.m. for a day of drag racing, ramping, rock crawling, and all around driving fun. We will have our big drones there to record the action, and we will be offering test flights of some of them (weather permitting). We also hope to have a number of RC planes to demonstrate as well. We will provide more details as the day draws closer.

We are busy lining up some food vendors to be there for the afternoon so that there will be a variety of food, drink, and ice cream to choose from.

We are also working on our (now) annual Train themed excursion. We hope to announce the trip in next month’s edition, or stop by next time you’re in the shop to hear our ideas.

In our Pre-Owned/Estate Sales department, we are constantly adding new items from a number of collections we have received. The newest items are some ceramic Christmas and Carnival-themed buildings from the likes of Department 56, Carole Towne, Currier & Ives, and many others. These buildings are great for filling in your layout. Be sure to visit the Pre-Owned/Estate Sales section of our web site and click on Buildings to see the items, or stop in the shop. Many more buildings will be listed in the coming days.  We  also have a large collection of rolling stock, buildings and accessories focused around an oil and refining scheme.  Again with many unique items.

With the warmer weather descending upon us, we have seen an increase in customer traffic as the RC folks are starting to stir from their long winter hibernation. This means that parking can be a challenge, especially on Saturdays. If our lot is full, you can always use the large parking lot where the Rushcreek General Store is located, just a short walk from our store.
